The Team
John Marshall
Owner & Company Director
John Marshall is both the owner and company director of John Marshall Associates Ltd. With over 40 years of industry experience, he qualified as a Member of the Institute of Structural Chartered Engineers in 2001, becoming an MIStructE.
His journey began in the family business after qualifying as an Engineer in 1990, simultaneously studying at Brighton University. After gaining more expertise at a top Consulting Structural Engineering Practice in London for 5 years, he advanced to Senior Engineer in the refurbishment department. Following this, he returned to the family business until 2002, when his father retired.
Subsequently, John embarked on establishing his own business, accumulating extensive knowledge and experience across various projects. His portfolio includes diverse ventures such as small residential homes, new constructions, listed buildings, eco-friendly initiatives, and commercial structures. Collaborating closely with architects, builders, and developers, John offers his expertise in cost-effective and practical solutions across all facets of the profession. Additionally, he liaises with local authorities on behalf of clients and builders when needed.
In his leisure time, John enjoys cycling, fishing, watching sports and spending quality time with his family.
Jeanette Marshall
Jeanette has worked with John since the company was founded in 2002 – indeed, they are a married couple working side by side! Before raising their two children, Jeanette served as a personal assistant to four company directors and later took on various part-time roles.
She works closely with John on different project aspects as needed, managing his daily schedule, ensuring the office runs smoothly, and handling the behind-the-scenes tasks such as bookkeeping and secretarial duties to support the business. While working part-time, Jeanette appreciates her time away from the office to indulge in her hobbies, care for the Office Mascot (Neville), and assists her elderly mother.
Neville
Meet Neville, our beloved office dog and the unofficial morale booster at John Marshall Associates. Neville is a friendly Dachshund who brings joy and wagging tails to our workplace. With a knack for knowing when a team member needs a little extra support, he’s often found sprawled under desks or making his rounds for belly rubs.
As our furry ambassador, Neville embodies the spirit of teamwork and dedication that drives our engineering projects. He reminds us that a little playfulness goes a long way in fostering collaboration and innovation. Whether he’s lounging in the sun or keeping a watchful eye on our design meetings, Neville is an essential part of our company culture and a constant source of inspiration.
